Assessment Details
1. The poster will assess learning outcome 1.

2. The reflective diary will allow the student to critically analyse the complexity and challenges of roads and response policing activities. Students will show understanding of the topic and ability to critically consider how this could be viewed within theories of psychology of human behaviour and occupational culture. This assessment will address learning outcomes 2, 3 and 4.

Indicative Content
This module enhances the learner’s understanding of the complexities and challenges of operational policing including the policing of the roads.


This module incorporates all the learning outcomes and indicative content from the College of Policing, Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship Curriculum for the following areas:
Response Policing
1.1 to 5.4 inclusive
Policing the Roads
1.1 to 5.3 inclusive

Appendix 1 details all the learning and indicative content covered in this module.

The below is a brief summary of what the content includes:
• Illustrate how theories and principles of psychology and human behaviour, including occupational culture, integrity and corruption, can be applied in various response contexts.
• Consider the roles and responsibilities of the response officer at the scene of high profile and critical incidents.
• Analyse the role of the police within a joint emergency services operation
• Apply police powers in relation to commercial vehicle enforcement
• Consider criminal activity on road networks and how this can be prevented and disrupted.
• Consider the policing of the strategic road network
• Explain roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in police pursuits, and the types of vehicle
