Assessment Details

1. The practical exercise will require learners to provide and receive feedback from peers on a simulated work-based activity using coaching and mentoring skills. This will assess learning outcomes 1 and 3.

2. The reflective diary will allow the student to critically examine how coaching and mentoring skills are used in a police workplace. Students will show understanding of the topic and ability to critically consider how this could be utilised within work-based assessments. This assessment will address learning outcomes 1 and 2.
Indicative Content
This module introduces the learner to the meaning and application of coaching, mentoring and assessment skills.

This module incorporates all the learning outcomes and indicative content from the College of Policing, Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship Curriculum for the following areas:
Coaching, Mentoring & Assessment
1.1 to 4.3

Appendix 1 details all the learning and indicative content covered in this module.

The below is a brief summary of what the content includes:
• Explain the skills required to deliver coaching and mentoring and how this supports professional development.
• Examine the principles of work-based assessment within policing
• Examine the principles and practices of assessment within the police service in order to ensure consistent and professional standards.
