ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1:
Production of a 2000-word essay (weighted at 100%), reflecting on operational deployment in the investigative arena with focus on demonstrating knowledge and application of legislation, policy and practice utilised in complex investigations, together with an evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies utilised when conducting such investigations.

INDICATIVE CONTENT
This is a wide-ranging module that consolidates learning in relation to concepts and practicalities of being a police constable. It incorporates all the learning outcomes and indicative content from the College of Policing Degree Holder Entry Programme Curriculum for the following areas:
Information & Intelligence: Sections 1 - 3.
Conducting Investigations: Sections 1 - 4.
Appendix 1 details all the learning and indicative content covered in this module.

Cross-border co-operation
NIM as a business process
Information and intelligence tactical options
Methods of evaluation: pre-, during and post operation
Using lessons learned to influence policing strategies
Additional investigative strategies for complex investigations
Briefing and de-briefing models in complex investigations

Covert methods in investigations
Specialist roles and support available in complex investigations
Disclosure in complex or major investigations, including sensitive material
Victims and witnesses in complex investigations
Complex and serious offending
Interviewing in complex investigations
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module is taken in the 2nd year of the programme. Learning for this module will be based around students committing 200 hours of study this being split between 40 hours of direct contact with teaching staff and 160 hours of independent study and workplace learning.
It is taken as an alternative to the Advanced Operational Policing (Response, Roads & Community) module to reflect learning needed for a chosen area of Specialist deployment upon completion of the Programme.
Students will be taught in a mixture of lectures and tutorials. The majority will be delivered face to face but there are a variety of synchronised sessions and on-line activities that take place away from a physical location.
Academic support (face to face and online) will be available throughout the module.
There will be regular formative knowledge checks and other sessions of formative assessment.
