INDICATIVE CONTENT
This is a core conditional module that can be taken by students wishing to specialise in response, roads and community policing. The module provides a broad but integrated delivery of core skills and knowledge relating to these areas of employment with the police.
Indicative Content:
Examining specific challenges faced by response officers in more complex response situations.
Understanding key social, political and strategic drivers impacting upon contemporary response policing.
Strategies for how those involved in response policing can remain effective in increasingly challenging
environment.
Reviewing the evidence base associated with serious road policing offences and strategies associated with
reducing the number of collisions.
Critically evaluation a range of problem-solving approaches than can be applied to reduce community cohesion
and promote community cohesion.
Examining key emerging issues, problems or concerns faced by the community.
Evaluating the impact of potential challenges to community policing and the future role of the community
constable.
Indicative content reflects the College of Policing National Policing Curriculum stipulated for delivery at level 6 of the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship as follows:
Response Policing: 1.1 to 3.5 inclusive
Policing the Roads: 1.1 to 1.2 inclusive
Policing Communities: 1.1 to 3.2 inclusive.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Presentation:
Students will be required to individually prepare a 20-minute recorded presentation using PowerPoint on a case study of their choice evaluating the impact of strategies, policy or practice that they have utilised in the workplace relevant to complex response, roads or community situations.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Lectures, tutorials, and pre-prepared learning material facilitated through use of the Blackboard VLE and MS Teams, will be used, as appropriate, to develop learners and prepare them for the workplace. The delivery team will employ a range of learning and teaching methodologies which may include group work, problem-based learning, learner presentations, feedback, and online tutor/learner-led discussions. A blended approach to delivery will be taken and a mix of methods used for formative knowledge checks.
A module handbook and other detailed supportive material such as assessment briefings is available to learners and will set out requirements and expectations in more detail.
