The institutions involved in health care policy including the Department of Health, Strategic Health Authorities, Primary and Acute care trusts.
The relationship between Central Government, Local Government and the NHS.
The nature of decision making in Government related to health care services.
The role of healthcare professionals in service delivery.
The problem of policy implementation.
The contemporary health policy agenda.
Cases of change in health policy issues: examples may include the role of patient choice, the move to a primary care led service and joint working with social services.
