INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding of current provision and policy surrounding health and social care. Topics included in this module are:
The institutions involved in health and social care policy including the Department of Health, Strategic Health Authorities, Local Authorities, Primary and Acute care trusts.
The relationship between Central Government, Local Government the NHS and third sector organisations.
The nature of decision making in Government related to health care services.
The role of care professionals in service delivery.
The role of personalisation
The problem of policy implementation.
The contemporary health and social policy agenda.
Cases of change in health policy issues: examples may include the role of patient choice, the move to a primary care led service and joint working with social services.
