Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module meets the Care Certificate Standards: 4. Equality and Diversity; 8. Fluids and nutrition; 9. Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disability.



This module will look at definitions of health and wellbeing and individual aspects of human health and development and how these changes over the lifespan; what are Values and how they help us to understand human services; people in society, social roles and social influences; the social process of devaluation as a health determinant; choice as competency; healthy and unhealthy behaviour; the role of anti-discriminatory and anti- oppressive behaviours in society. Valuing diversity this module will be exploring individual differences, including gender, sexuality, culture, religion, disability and social class.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
The assessment links to all the following learning outcomes.

Oral Poster Presentation (15 minutes): The poster should address the changing social roles we occupy throughout our lives and how these impact on our values and behaviour. Students may focus on one changing role, for instance becoming a parent, an employee or a student.

Accompanied by a full reference list.



Students will also undertake one formative presentation. Feedback will be given through class and group discussions and tutorials
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (35¿hours)¿¿

20 hours lectures, workshops and sessions on key¿topics.¿There will be opportunities to participate¿in small groups to explore some of the key issues raised in lectures and undertake practical skills tasks and activities.

5 hours formative presentations

5 hours group and individual tutorials



Guided Independent Study: (165¿hours)¿¿



100 hours: Independent reading - You will be expected to read the recommended reading, utilise the learning materials which you will have full access to via Blackboard and the library.

40¿hours: Undertake the directed group work, necessary research and analysis and development of skills to inform formative and summative assessments Directed group work in preparation for formative assessment presentations

30 hours Summative assessment final preparation

You will be expected to have made use of the relevant library resources, research and web-based sites to identify relevant academic texts and journal articles to support your work.
