Module Indicative Content
The module is based around four sessions delivered by Distance Learning on the GSF Centre's VL platform. Themes for these are:
1. Understanding Spiritual Care and Spiritual Assessment
2. Skills, tools and resources for Spiritual Care
3. The role of culture, religion and ritual
4. Delivering Spiritual Care in practice
Each session will have teaching content (video); a `worked example (video); a practical task (workbook) and background resources (workbook). The practical task will include practical activity, self-assessment and action plan. These outputs will build into a portfolio of insights into the place of spiritual care in the student's organisation, and in turn provide the basis for the reflective assignment
Module Additional Assessment Details
A written assignment culminating in an action plan on the individual's own role in developing a 'Gold Standard' of spiritual care for people within their context, resourced by their reading and reflection (Total 2000 words, 100% weighting assesses all LO's)
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
A portfolio of tasks based upon four successive sessions, comprising in each case:
- A task related to the content of the video
- A self-assessment task
- An action plan for the student's area of work
The tasks assigned to each video to be submitted in turn for formative feedback and response

Module Learning Strategies

6 Hours - View of four videos (90 minutes per video) covering Key areas of content and practice
Guided Independent Study: (144 hours)
15 hours Preparatory reading
15 hours Tutorial support with formative feedback and response
10 hours Formative reflection on context
60 hours Preparation of formative portfolio and response to feedback
40 hours Assignment, Reflection on practice
4 hours engaging in learning tasks after viewing of videos (minimum 60 minutes each) for formative feedback
