Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Case studies of ethical problems which are in the public domain will be explored. Groups will be provided with formative feedback around how they develop their discussion and problem identification.
Reflections on your own professional practice will also be used throughout the module, you must ensure you maintain confidentiality

Within this module you will explore a number of theoretical and practical issues around professional practice; you will learn the core values and behaviours expected when working in any health care or social care environment, using the 6 C’s (compassion, care, competence, communication, courage, commitment) to underpin professional actions. Drawing upon the standards of the care certificate, codes of practice and competencies for health care and social care workers, the module will provide the underpinning skill and knowledge you will need in health and social care settings.
The topics you will study include:
Basic Life Support, infection prevention, manual handling, the professional client relationship as an ethical problem; client centred practice; involving service users and carers in care planning; whistle-blowing; safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection; end of life decisions; consent, confidentiality, record keeping.

70 hours of Work experience in an area of Health and Social Care to support the production of a Practice Learning Plan and a reflective workbooklet
