Multiple Choice Questions 100% weighting (addressing LO 1)
Viva Voce 20 minutes duration 0% weighting (addressing LO's 2 and 3) Pass/Fail
Participants will be given a scenario and asked questions on the rights and responsibilities and how to promote the sexual rights of people with learning disabilities.
Both elements of assessment must be passed

Module Indicative Content
This module looks at:
- sexuality in its widest context and the challenges and differences for people with a learning disability.
- Up to date information about appropriate legislation.
- sources of sexual messages.
- Staff responsibilities.
- values and attitudes held by staff around this area of work and the separation of personal and professional.
- guidelines for sensitive care giving.
- skills in answering difficult questions.
- reflection
Module Learning Strategies
This course is essentially experiential in nature. Participants will receive some theoretical background that will be put into practice. This background will be provided in a course manual which will be distributed on the first day of training. This manual will be used throughout the contact hours of training. Some sections will be completed throughout the training and some will be taken away for use in personal study hours. Formative feedback will be provided by the course tutors throughout the course.
During the two days of the course, participants will experience a variety of learning activities including
6 hours group work
2 hours role play
2 hours case study work
2 hours group reflection exercises
6 hours information giving sessions
There are a total of 18 contact hours for this course. There are an expected 132 hours of self study. This will be made up of:
- completion of the course manual
- Research / reading
- Study skills workshop to receive support on viva voce and MCQ's
