INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module meets the Care Certificate Standards:

Safeguarding Children; 12. Basic Life Support; 13. Health and Safety; 14. Handling information; 15. Infection prevention and control

Within this module you will explore a number of theoretical and practical issues around professional practice; you will learn the core values and behaviours expected when working in any health care or social care environment, using the 6 Cs (compassion, care, competence, communication, courage, commitment) to underpin professional actions. Drawing upon the standards of the care certificate, codes of practice and competencies for health care and social care workers, the module will provide the underpinning skill and knowledge you will need in health and social care settings.
The topics you will study include:
Basic Life Support, infection prevention, manual handling, the professional client relationship as an ethical problem; client centred practice; involving service users and carers in care planning; whistle-blowing; safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection; end of life decisions; consent, confidentiality, record keeping.

Certificate will be provided to the students who successfully complete the simulated skills sessions, such as Basic Life Support.

70 hours of Work experience in an area of Health and Social Care to support the production of a Practice Learning Plan assessing professional practice.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
This assessment meets all the learning outcomes.

Poster presentation: Deliver a fifteen-minute poster presentation that identifies the key professional issues for a health and social care leader and the strategies that they might take to address these key issues.



A Practice learning plan will be submitted as part of the work experience requirement, assessing professional practice.
