Module Indicative Content
The module aims to provide students with an understanding of public health from the political drivers through to action to improve the health of the public. The role of Public Health organisations and how their activities have changed with changing mortality causes, changing technologies and changing social values will be examined. Research methods pertinent to epidemiology and other public health evidence will be examined.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete and pass 2 pieces of summative assessment:
1. One mid module ESSAY, of 2000 word count, weighted 50% to assess LO's 2 and 3
2. One 90 minute SEEN, end of module EXAMINATION, weighted 50% to assess LO 1, 2 & 3.
Students will be provided with formative assessment via:
- Tutor-led sessions and Peer-review discussion including a student-led epidemiology forum.
- Seminar sessions to develop understanding of various organisations their roles and policies.
- Workshop sessions to develop understanding of research methods used in public health.
