Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module meets the Care Certificate Standards: 1. Understanding your role; 2. Your personal development; 4. Equality and diversity; 5. Work in a person-centred way; 10. Safeguarding adults; 11. Safeguarding Children; 13, Health and Safety

The module will explore the nature of organisations within the health & social care. Drawing upon organisational theory, the module addresses three broad themes: organisational structures; meeting service user individualised and identified needs; and employee engagement. A key aspect of this is the multi-professional, multi-disciplinary nature of health and social care and the need to work effectively across organisational boundaries. The module will also include the requirement to undertake a project on a chosen health/social care related issue, relevant to the course during work experience. The module builds upon The Context of Health & Social Care at Level 4 and provides a platform for Leadership and Management in Health & Social Care at Level 6.

Communication, within and between organisations

Inter-professional working practices

Commissioning services and establishing patient/service user requirements

Workforce planning

Employer brand

Dealing with, and effectively using, the media

Core principles of marketing, including social media

Key organisational policies and procedures

Linking organisational goals to wider policy drivers

Awareness on service user and carer involvement in the development of services will be facilitated by invited guest lectures

70 hours of Work experience in an area of health and social care to support the presentation and reflective account.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
The seminar presentation addresses all the learning outcomes.

Analyse and critically evaluate the effectiveness of the delivery of health and social care services for a health and social care organisation of your choice, including evaluation of the role of multidisciplinary teams the delivery of these services.

Guidance on presentation skills will be offered within the module and formative peer and tutor feedback on the presentation will be provided within group class tutorials.

The Reflective log based on the work experience and addresses all the learning outcomes.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (30¿hours)¿¿

You will attend lectures workshops and sessions on key¿topics.¿There will also be opportunities to participate¿in small groups and seminar activities to explore some of the key issues raised in lectures and undertake practical activities (scenario based) around health and social care service delivery and multi-agency working. In line with building equality and inclusion into course design a wider variety of learning a teaching approach will be utilised, specialising in class debate and discussion which offers multiple ways for students to complete activities and tasks, express and communicate their learning and develop independent learning skills.

Guided Independent Study: (170¿hours)¿¿ ¿

60¿hours: Independent reading - You will be expected to read the recommended reading and utilise the learning materials which you will have full access to via Blackboard.¿¿

70 hours work experience in a health/social care setting

40¿hours: assessment (presentation) preparation and reflecting log completion
