Formative feedback:
Presentation of portfolio evidence at each workshop; tutorials; group work.

Summative Assessment:
A portfolio of evidence which demonstrates:
- Personal reflection on existing practice knowledge and skills (LO1)
- A critical discussion on the personal development plan and rationale for the identified knowledge and skills acquisition (LOs 1 & 2)
- An analysis of the evidence and research base supporting personal knowledge and skills development (LO3)
- A critical analysis of the application of module learning to peri-operative care and an evaluation of the enhancement of practice (LO4)

This module is a work-based student centred design, which takes account of the individual student's personal development needs. The majority of the learning will be independent study. This will be divided - identified clinical development, supportive reading and the compilation of evidence for the portfolio (86%). The student will require the support of an identified mentor, who is able to facilitate clinical learning opportunities and verify the currency of the evidence included within the portfolio.

Student contact hours will include workshops to explore methods of achieving the personal development plan and learning outcomes. Group and individual tutorials as well as access to supportive educational materials through Blackboard VLE (14%)

This module provides Peri-operative practitioners with the opportunity to demonstrate the development and enhancement of their clinical practice, through a work-based learning approach. It is a vehicle by which individual practitioners can demonstrate how they are keeping up-to-date with professional and practice developments. It will enable practitioners to establish evidence of Peri-operative care learning and competence enhancement from work-based activities which could also be used for renewal of professional registration.
This module allows Peri-operative practitioners to demonstrate how they have enhanced their knowledge and skills. This may be through:
- Participation in established in-service programmes;
- Developing patient/client care services;
- Mentoring/supervising staff or students;
- Managing care;
- Attendance at university-based workshops addressing key issues relating to theatre practice
- Involvement in projects or research

Candidates for this module will be required to be Registered ODPs or Nurses with a minimum of 12 months current clinical experience working in a suitable area of peri-operative practice. They will require the written support of their clinical manager and a Personal Development Plan which has been jointly signed by the manager and themselves.
