A short answer examination of 1 hour duration
(weighted 50% to meet learning outcome 1)
20 minute PowerPoint presentation identifying how you would initiate, lead and manage a small project within the community (weighted 50% to meet learning outcomes 2 and 3)
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Practice formative examinations will be undertaken at the end of each topic studied
You will choose ONE of 3 projects given as case scenarios to base your presentation upon; these will be discussed in group tutorial sessions within class to assist you decide which scenario you will choose for the assessment.
Formative guidance and feedback will be provided in tutorial sessions within the class
Information on how to undertake presentations will be provided in class and academic skills advisors will be available to guide and advise on how to undertake PowerPoint presentations

This module provides the knowledge and skill you will require to lead and manage change within the health and social care settings. You will explore:
The political, legislative and social context of leadership and management
Contemporary leadership theories and leadership qualities
Awareness of students own leadership approach
Working with others
Key management theories
Leading and managing change, including change management theories
Decision making and horizon scanning
Resource management and budgeting
Project planning and managing projects in the workplace

Web Descriptor
This module provides you with the opportunity to apply the understanding of health and social care topics you have developed over the course to matters of leadership and management. It will cover key theories of leadership and management, including change management, conflict, motivation, teamwork and project management. Over the course of the module you will explore how these theories can be applied to practical issues within health and social care environments. Through a combination of lectures and group tasks you will able to consider your own style of leadership and how this might be applied in your future working roles.
