MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS


Students will have to complete a portfolio with tasks including Reflections and a Competency Assessment of Forensic Practice. Students will also be assessed in practice by their Mentors, which will be recorded in their portfolio of evidence. Meeting all the Learning Outcomes
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
Each Student will be provided with a Portfolio which they will work through with their Mentors, which is appointed to them by the Company. The Portfolio covers a variety of basic essential competencies required of HCPs in forensic practice. Such as:

Mental Health learning disabilities and cognitive challenges
Forensic Practice and documentation of injuries
Review of cases they have seen
Understanding the criminal justice System
Safeguarding
Holistic clinical assessment and management plans
Drugs and alcohol
Wider Vulnerabilities
Forensic Standards
Trauma informed care
Reflective Practitioner

The student will be assessed in the achievement of these competencies and the writing up of their Reflection by their Mentors, who ae appointed by MHC.
The final Portfolios are then second marked by the Workforce Education Group for final sign off.

The University Module Lead will moderate the Portfolios
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
This is an in house delivered course by Mountain healthcare employees to new starters in the company, who will be tasked with forensically examining individuals in their workplace.. The student commences this course following a 6 month review and passed their initial probation period. At the start of the course the student meets with their mentor and is provided with the Portfolio, which they have the 13 weeks to complete. All students have to attend the 3 Core Skills study days listed below.

Within the Portfolio the students will have to complete a competency document and for this course focus on mental health and forensic practice. This will be reviewed by their mentor and reflective statements completed. A company assessment specifically on forensic evidence and documentation of injuries, which will require their mentor to complete. There is a case reflection on a mental health case

Study Day 1: Mental Health Core Skills facilitated by a Doctor with a background in Mental Health.

Study Day 2: Forensic Practice Core Skills delivered by an UKAFN ASET or FFLM Licentiate Forensic Healthcare Practitioner
Study Day 3: Emergency Scenario Day delivered by an Resus Council registered HCP

This is supported by a competency log book and one to one supervision for their mentors

Mentors are supported by train the trainer activities and peer support. Each Mentor will be provided with a Mentor Handbook.

Only those who are employed in a health care role by Mountain healthcare can enrol on this module

Admissions requirements Health Practitioner working employed by Mountain Healthcare and a registered Practitioner with either the NMC (Nurse) or the HCPC (Paramedic)

Disqualified combinations Non-employees of Mountain Healthcare
