Module Details
MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the factors which affect forensic practice

2. Manage your own learning and apply the methods and techniques you have learned to review, consolidate, extend and apply your knowledge and understanding to the role of the forensic practitioner

3. Critically evaluate the current evidence base to make decisions in complex and unpredictable contexts within the forensic setting

4. Demonstrate the skills necessary to effectively present accurate and detailed information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, which is of a suitably high standard to be accepted as testimony in court.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
1) Students will complete a short answer question (SAQ). The SAQ will apply to their area of forensic practice; SARC or custody. (LO 1)
2) Students will complete at least six written reflections which demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding following the mental health study sessions. (LO 2)
3) Students will take part in a professional discussion based upon the comments and reflections within their professional portfolio of evidence. The discussion will also include forensic sample labelling and documentation of injuries. (LO 3)
4) Using a clinical case they have completed, students will write an anonymised court statement which must be fit for use within the criminal justice system. (LO 4)

All elements must be passed to successfully complete the module.

Formative assessments and feedback will be provided during supervised clinical practice and meetings with their named mentor.

This module enables Mountain Healthcare employees to demonstrate competence in forensic practice, within both custody and Sexual Assault Referral Centre settings. Students will explore the following:
