Module Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the concepts and principles that underpin the health
Service organisation and management.
The module draws upon a range of theories and models to consider the principles underpinning health service that can subsequently be applied to high middle and low income countries. Included is a global perspective, including health services within public private and third sector organisations.
The module introduces management and organisational a range of theory and perspectives and their application of these perspectives to health services including patterns and interrelationships and governance and regulatory arrangements.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Critically discuss the regulatory challenges facing healthcare providers, and using examples from the literature, reflect on the characteristics of effective governance in healthcare organisations. Assesses all LO's

On line summary of seminar material and analysis of a relevant case study - students will summarise discussion materials for the group or summarise the subsequent by the group
Module Learning Strategies
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (12 hours)
2 hours Individual e-mail based tutorials around assignment support
10 hours Tutor interventions in on-line group activities

Guided Independent Study: (138 hours)
22 hours study related to on-line activities around sessions
50 hours for researching the subject through accessing on-line materials, including reference to case
studies involving an introductory session followed by a series of five 2-week seminars with a final session to summarise and conclude the module.
