Module Indicative Content
This module assumes no prior knowledge of educational theory; however it identifies and draws upon our own personal experiences to illustrate the established educational theories that are widely utilised in all aspects of teaching and learning. By critically reflecting upon your own personal experiences you will begin to identify and critique various educational strategies that are employed in teaching and learning establishments.
The concept of the educational cycle will underpin the module whilst you will explore motivation theories, learning styles, domains of learning and the principles of adult learning, you will also critically evaluate primary theories of learning such as behaviourism, constructivism, cognitivism, and social learning

A critical reflection of 3000 words relating your own personal learning journey to the underpinning educational theory
This assignment will demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes (1-4) for this module
Formative guidance will be provided through workshop individual face to face, email, or telephone tutorials

Independent directed learning will be presented on the theoretical perspectives of teaching and learning.
Learning activities will include:
A variety of teaching methods including experiental, lecture, seminar, and smalll group work will be utilised. There will be peer teaching in the form of micro-teaching sessions and peer led discussions will be encouraged in order to share experience, knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning whilst also assisting in the application of theory to the students' personal journey through the educational process
Blackboard will be utilised for students to receive information about the module, i.e. handbooks, presentations, useful information, and for students to gain tutor and peer support through the discussion forum
