Module Additional Assessment Details
Consisting of:
Production of an appropriate range of design solutions, clearly communicated on paper via sketch drawing (to include concept generation, developments and detail design), presentation media and sketch modelling (where deemed appropriate)
The compilation of appropriate visual 'mood', style boards and market mapping boards. Thorough research file and time management plan.
[Learning Outsomes 1-6]
Key Information Set:
100% Coursework
Module Indicative Content
Successful design relies not only on competency in core skills but in the ability to generate a wide range of concepts and solutions to a design problem. The ability to think laterally and utilise diverse sources of research and inspiration can lift an idea from the everyday to the inspired.
This module will push your imagination enabling you to think rapidly and broadly in response to a brief. You need to communicate these ideas and demonstrate that you know the impact of semantics and aesthetics through the use of colour form and texture.
You will also be compiling a thorough research file analysing the specific market as listed in the brief. Investigate existing products/vehicles through the use of market mapping as well as material, manufacturing and target market research. You will also be expected to produce a detailed time management plan outlining the design process from research to presentation.
