Indicative Content
This module focuses on the development of more specialised counselling skills. Participants will be facilitated to acquire these crucial skills in order to manage counselling sessions with children and young people effectively. Participants will further explore various therapeutic interventions such as Sand-play therapy, Art therapy and Play therapy as well as a variety of other creative interventions. Students will also have the opportunity to develop and practice skills in assessment and use of Outcome Measures Tools.
Assessment Details
Summative – 1 x 50 min video tape of counselling session demonstrating client assessment, a minimum of three creative interventions and use of an outcome measures tool. weighted at 0% Pass/Fail. Plus 2,000-word critical evaluation of own performance. – 100 % (LO 1 - 3)
Formative – Q and A, discussion, peer evaluation and feedback, self-evaluation, reflective journal,
role-play, quiz, presentation, debate, Profile of formal and informal feedback sheets from peers and tutors.
