Module Indicative Content
This module covers the knowledge and understanding of how to promote children?s learning in the early years, how children learn and the historical perspectives, which have influenced early years practice, both in Britain and other countries, together with the advantages and disadvantages of each model of learning.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Assessment of this module is by the production of a 2,500 word (+ or - 10%) essay (Learning Outcomes 1-5)
To write an essay reflecting on current and past thinking related to your early years setting and critically evaluate its effects on children, their parents/carers.

Module Learning Strategies
A wide range of learning strategies will be used to build on prior knowledge and experience. These will include directed and independent reading, lectures and discussions with visiting speakers, reflections on practice in the light of the theories and strategies studied.
