Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2000 word report which critically analyses and evaluates a literature search of an area of work based practice and reflects on the candidate's personal work based experience in that area (weighted at 75%) (Learning outcomes 1 - 5)
A 500 word Personal Development Plan in tabular form (weighted at 25%) (Learning outcome 6)
Additional Assessment Details
You will need to demonstrate the skills learned during the Study Skills module.
Your report should include a title, and sections for the introduction, findings, critical analysis/evaluation of findings, conclusions and recommendations. At the end of the report add you Reference List, Bibliography and Appendix (if necessary). The bibliography, reference list and references in your report's text should be documented in accordance with the Harvard system of referencing.
Your Personal Development Plan should be in the form of a chart using the proforma provided and adapting it to show relevance to yourself and your role in the sector. You will need to include a needs analysis (including Information Technology Skills), a review of work related skills and towards the end an individual plan for the period of Foundation Degree study showing what, how and when you can act to develop and improve skills, knowledge, understanding and experience identified as areas needing attention.
Module Indicative Content
In this module you will be introduced to study skills necessary for study at HE level. These skills will include:
Conducting a literature search to include accessing texts, journals, research, publications and the Internet
Constructing a bibliography and referencing using the Harvard system
Planning and presentation of written documentation including a range of reports, essays, assignments, reflective logs, agenda and minutes of
meetings, and their organization into a portfolio
Developing appropriate critical thinking skills by examining issues from a range of professional, work based and theoretical perspectives
Constructing personal development plans including plans to develop and improve information technology skills
Module Learning Strategies
Emphasis will be placed on evaluating information researched including the use of Information Technology that is relevant to the candidates work
setting in Early Years
Produce critical and evaluative responses to the content of the learning outcomes
Independent study including the use of Information Technology will allow the candidate to evaluate ways in which they can access information
in the Early Years setting
This module will underpin study at level 2 on the Project (including the Comparative Study and Professional Development)
