Module Learning Strategies
Lectures, videos and directed reading will build upon student's prior knowledge of theories and practical experience, which will then be applied in seminars and work-based tasks. Tasks may include:

- Focused observation and evaluation of children's behaviour.
- Discussion of case studies.
- Involvement in and use of Individual Education Plans (IEP's) and
sharing behaviour modification plans with parents/carers.
- Discipline policies and behaviour programmes.

Module Indicative Content
The module covers:
Recent research in behaviourist theory to analyse children's needs and the factors that influence children's behaviour as they develop. It will also explore some of the reasons why children may develop unwanted behaviour. Practical implications of behaviour management using a child centred approach and considering the current framework for assessing and monitoring children will be addressed.
Module Additional Assessment Details

Written Assignment 1500-2000 words (100%) (Learning Outcomes 1-4)
Participants will negotiate a piece of professional development work, which would involve the designing, planning and evaluation of a strategy or strategies to develop behavioural norms within the workplace.
