ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative – Essay: 2, 500 words (Weighted at 100%) (LO's 1 - 5).

Students will be asked to write a 2,500 word essay on key ideas and concepts within the Person
Centred counselling model. They will compare these concepts to key ideas and concepts in other counselling models including Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Students will also explain how the key
concepts of each model are used to facilitate the counselling process and they will evaluate the appropriateness of using an integrative approach.

Formative – Q and A, discussion, peer evaluation and feedback, self-evaluation, reflective journal,
role-play, quiz, presentation, debate.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module focuses on the history and development of the core theoretical models. Emphasis is placed on Person Centred theory and how it informs and underpins practice. Participants will explore the appropriateness of different styles and methods of counselling approaches including SFBT. This module also supports candidates in developing research and study skills including academic writing and referencing.
