Module Details
LEARNING STRATEGIES
• Group process – 14 hours
• Experiential and theoretical learning – 11 hours
• Supervised clinical practice in small and/or large groups – 14 hours
• Self-reflective journal writing – 4 hours
• student-focused activities encouraging active participation,(including tutorials, accessing electronic systems and support staff for data, literature, resources and contacts) – 7 hour

Specify the number of Guided Independent Study Hours attributed to each type of activity (eg reading / assessment preparation). Total hours should equate to Guided Independent Study Hours identified on page 1 of this form.

Guided Independent Study is considered to include:
• Reading and research (100 hours per module)
• Assignment preparation and workshop preparation/follow up (50 hours per module)

• Access to a suitably qualified therapist to provide the required sessions of personal therapy
• Access to recording equipment
• Access to database and internet for placement and supervision research

MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate knowledge and evaluate the skills that can help establish and promote a therapeutic relationship online or by telephone.¿¿
2. Evaluate the therapeutic skills necessary to initiate, develop and maintain a Humanistic and Integrative therapeutic relationship online or by telephone.¿¿
3. Demonstrate and effectively communicate your competency to use counselling skills to provide and end a therapeutic relationship.¿¿
4. Demonstrate and communicate effectively an agreed contract appropriate to the media being offered¿
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A process report – a 10-minute recording either by telephone or online with transcript of skills work supported by a 2,000-word commentary (assessing learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 & 4)¿

All elements must be passed

Together with peer and tutor written feedback on small group skills work (1, 2, 3)¿
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This long module which is integrated into each workshop in the first year will focus on the acquisition and development of counselling skills. Learning will predominantly take place through practice skills groups where students will work in the roles of counsellor, client and observer to develop and enhance the skills that will enable them to create and maintain a therapeutic relationship with clients.¿¿
