Module Details
INDICATIVE DATA
In this module you will be introduced to research skills necessary for study at HE level.

These skills will include:
¿ Conducting a literature search to include accessing texts, journals, research publications and the internet
¿ Constructing a bibliography and referencing using the Harvard system
¿ Develop presentation skills
¿ Develop oral presentation skills
¿ Planning and presentation of written documentation including a range of reports, essays, reflective journals
¿ Develop appropriate critical thinking skills by examining issues from a range of professional, work based and theoretical perspectives
¿ Reflective writing
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1- Present an informative seminar to your peers outlining the principal issues highlighted within an article of your choice, related to the field of counselling weighted at 60%. (assessing LO's 1 and 2)

Assessment 2- Write a reflection evidencing your development through completing Assessment 1 using a reflective model of your choice. The reflection will demonstrate your ability to reflect on your individual learning outcomes

1000 words. weighted at 40%. (assessing LO 3)

All elements must be passed to achieve the module

Formative learning:
Students will be given feedback in group tutorials centred on the development of a plan for their work.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (20 hours)
15 hours lectures
5 hours group tutorials

Guided Independent Study: (180 hours)
Including internet research, reading and library study, assignment preparation, group activities in preparation for presentations, group activities in preparation for group tutorials and completion of Study Skills Pack.
