Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module focuses on the history and development of the core theoretical models. Emphasis is placed on Person Centred theory and how it informs and underpins practice. You will explore the appropriateness of different styles and methods of counselling approaches including SFBT. The value of using an integrative approach is also discussed. This module also supports candidates in developing research and study skills including academic writing and referencing.

ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
You will be asked to write a 2,000 word assignment, weighted at 100% which meets LO1, LO2 and LO3.

Within the assignment you will explain the key ideas and concepts within the Person-Centred counselling model. You will compare these concepts to key ideas and concepts in other counselling models including Solution
Focused Brief Therapy. You will also explain how the key concepts of the person-centred model are used to
facilitate the counselling process and evaluate the appropriateness of using an integrative approach.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning strategies may include interactive lectures and skills practice sessions which consist of workshops, discussions, group-work, role-play, and individual tutorials. Reflection and reflective practice along with critical thinking will also be a key element of the programme in to facilitate professional learning. Independent study time includes researching, reading and reflection as well as assignment preparation.
