INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module focuses on the development of more specialised counselling skills. You will be facilitated to acquire these crucial skills in order to manage counselling sessions with children and young people effectively. You will further explore various therapeutic interventions such as Sand-play therapy, Art therapy and Play therapy as well as a variety of other creative interventions. You will also have the opportunity to develop and practice skills in assessment and use of Outcome Measures Tools.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A written 2,000-word essay that requires you to critically evaluate assessment strategies as well as contracting and use of Outcome Measures Tools with children and young people. This essay will also include a critical evaluation of three therapeutic interventions utilised in counselling children and young people (LO1, LO2, LO3).
Skills assessment – this assessment will assess your suitability to go onto placement. Pass/Fail
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning strategies may include interactive lectures and skills practice sessions which consist of workshops, discussions, group-work, role-play, and individual tutorials. Reflection and reflective practice along with critical thinking will also be a key element of the programme in to facilitate professional learning. Independent study time includes researching, reading and reflection as well as assignment preparation
