INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module focuses on the professional, legal, and ethical issues that underpin good counselling practice. Safeguarding, codes of practice, contracts, boundaries, ethical referral, and other related topics are explored. This module supports you in developing an understanding of professional issues and boundaries involved with working with children and young people in a counselling placement. You will also explore the roles and responsibilities of the counselling supervisor and how you might be best supported in the supervision process.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAI;LS
A written 2,000-word essay that requires you to critically evaluate how professional issues might be managed in counselling practice with children and young people and exploring issues involved when on-line counselling (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4).
LEASRNING STRATEGIES
Learning strategies may include interactive lectures and skills practice sessions which consist of workshops, discussions, group-work, role-play, and individual tutorials. Reflection and reflective practice along with critical thinking will also be a key element of the programme in to facilitate professional learning. Independent study time includes researching, reading and reflection as well as assignment preparation.
