Module Details
Module Indicative Content
In this module you will be introduced to the main concepts of management and human and physical resources management. It will link general management theories to concepts of leadership, team building, delegation and motivation. Financial and physical resources will be examined within the context of the early years setting and its constraints. Management of change and management influences to bring about changes will be considered.

A report (75%) 2500 words
A Reflective log/diary (25%) 750 words
Assessing Learning Outcomes 1-5

The report should examine how physical and human resources are used in the work based context to respond to change. Specific references should be made to budgeting, teamwork and leadership styles.

The reflective log should track and examine a process of change which you have experienced in your workplace indicating what you have learned from this experience. This should be presented in tabular form showing a sequence of events over time.

Module Learning Strategies
Emphasis will be placed on work based activities so that the students can relate the academic learning of the programme with the context in which they work. Learning will be related to practical situations. Students will be encouraged to learn from work and to apply academic learning to work. Lectures and tutorials aimed at supporting the recognition of how physical and human resources are utilised routinely and in response to change. Independent study will reflect on the candidates particular work experience with mentor support.
