Formative learning
Students will be asked to work in small groups of 2 or 3 to research and present a summary of recent literature relating to one of the disorders covered in the module. This work can then form the basis of an answer to one of the exam questions. Formative verbal feedback will be given by tutor and peers.

There will be an exam workshop where students can work on outline answers to sample questions and receive tutor feedback.
Module Indicative Content
This module will look at a range of developmental disorders such as attention deficit disorder, conduct disorder and autism. The nature and epidemiology of the disorders will be considered. Different theoretical approaches to the aetiology and treatment of such disorders will be explored. These will include biological, genetic, cognitive, social and psychodynamic approaches. The impact of the disorders on family life, relationships and education will be considered along with the implications for future adult life.
