Module Learning Strategies
The module will be taught through 11 lectures (22 hours), supported extensively by a range of activities and reading materials offered via Blackboard. In addition, there will be seven seminars and an information search workshop to support students with assessment and to develop skills and conceptual understanding (8 hours).
Module Indicative Content
The module builds on the topic covered in level C and provides a grounding in the basic principles of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology and then uses these basic concepts to explore the following psychological functions: eating and drinking behaviour, sleep, stress and health, mental illness, drug action, memory mechanisms, and sexual behaviour.

Journal article summary and reflection on skills 40% (3 and 4)
2 hour seen examination 60% (1, 2, 3 & 4)
Formative Assessment
Several activities will be provided through Blackboard to enhance students' knowledge and understanding as preparation for both the exam and the journal article summary. These include, sample questions and neuroanatomy worksheets. Discussions requiring students to express understanding of concepts and literature will be employed during seminars.
