INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module introduces you to contemporary methodologies in counselling research and aims to develop the skills needed for the effective appraisal of findings from research and evaluation studies.
Topics may include:
Approaches to research.
The research process.
Quantitative and qualitative designs and methods.
Sampling.
Types of data collection in quantitative research.
Types of analysis of quantitative data.
Critical appraisal in quantitative research.
Qualitative methods, including introduction to phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory and naturalistic inquiry.
Types of data collection methods in qualitative research.
Critical appraisal in qualitative research.
Mixed methods.
Barriers to research implementation and dissemination.
Protection of research participants.
Ethical issues in research.
