- Roles of psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists, GPs, Social Workers etc and referral processes
- Awareness of behaviours that may indicate mental health issues
- Issues involved when working with clients on prescribed drugs.
- Counsellor abilities and limitations
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative - Presentation of 20mins duration on one named illness / disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM 5) – including proposed treatment and support and a suggested intervention plan. (Weighted at 100 %) (LO 1 - 4)
A further 10 minutes will be allocated at the end of the presentation for students to answer peer and tutor questions. (Weighted at 0%).
Formative - Q and A, discussion, peer evaluation and feedback, self-evaluation, reflective journal,
quiz, presentation, debate, work-sheets, role-play.
