Indicative Content
This module focuses on the development of knowledge and critical understanding in a variety of theoretical approaches within the field of counselling children and young people. The Sequentially Planned Integrative Children’s Counselling model will be explored along with Narrative therapy, Gestalt therapy and Transactional Analysis amongst others. Participants will critically reflect on their own personal philosophy of counselling theory and how they apply it personally and in their client work.
Assessment Details
Summative - Presentation – 20 minutes on ‘My Personal Philosophy of Counselling’.
A further 10 minutes will be allocated at the end of the presentation for discussion with tutor and peers. (Weighted at 100%) (LO 1 – 3).
Formative - Q and A, discussion, peer evaluation and feedback, self-evaluation, reflective journal,
role-play, quiz, presentation, debate.
