ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: A case study, from a real client, including analysis of grief and loss theory, as well as your effective application of interventions and promotion of ethical practice, in working with a client experiencing grief and loss. 2000 words weighted at 100%, (LOs 1 and 2)
Assessment 2: Reflect on your own experiences of loss and grief and evaluate this personal impact on the counselling process- 500 words (LOs 3 and 4)
All elements must be passed to pass the module.
Formative learning:
Students will be given feedback in group tutorials centred on the development of a plan for their work.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Experiences of grief and loss occur for a wide variety of reasons from changes in life roles, loss of employment to the death of a loved one and affect both clients and counsellors. Working through grief and loss is affected by a number of factors such as personality, family and cultural values and previous experiences. In this module you will be introduced to the key theories related to grief and loss that will support your developing practice.
