Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will support you in developing skills in professional case formulation. It provides an overview of roles in the helping professions i.e., psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists, psychotherapists etc. You will be facilitated in the development of knowledge and skills that will enable you to support children and young people with emotional or mental disorders. Theories of child development are also explored.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A presentation of 15-20 mins duration on one named illness or disorder affecting children from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM 5) or International Classification of Diseases (ICD11) – including proposed treatment and support and a suggested intervention plan (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4).
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning strategies may include interactive lectures and skills practice sessions which consist of workshops, discussions, group-work, role-play, and individual tutorials. Reflection and reflective practice along with critical thinking will also be a key element of the programme in to facilitate professional learning. Independent study time includes researching, reading and reflection as well as assignment preparation.
