Indicative Content
The module will bring together psychological theory and research methods to explore contemporary issues in the field of Cyberpsychology. This module will allow students to develop their knowledge about theories, debates, and research findings in this field. The module will assess the advantages and disadvantages of online research as well as explore topics such as the role of social media on wellbeing, Cyberbullying, Cybertherapy, Cyberchondria and the impact of screen-time on children. Weekly classes will bring together theory and method in the study of cyberpsychology, and illustrate various challenges in this particular field, through the practical observation and application of the theoretical and methodological concepts discussed.
Additional Assessment Details
Summative assessment will assess LOs 1-3. Students will have the choice of a range of topics to focus their essays on, each will have a dedicated lecture. Each lecture will have a section that outlines some guidance for the essay title in that area.
Formative assessment will be given by tutors in teaching sessions, during discussions, activities, and peer group work in relation to learning for each topic as well as the assessment.
Learning Strategies
Teaching sessions will be interactive lectures that include class discussions and activities. Guided independent study will include reading in preparation for lectures, assessment preparation and any preparation that might be required for class activities and tasks.

1. Critically evaluate key contemporary issues and theories within the area of Cyberpsychology
2. Identify and evaluate key debates within the field of cyberpsychology
3. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of key relevant empirical psychological research within the field of cyberpsychology
