An essay of no more than 3,000 words to evaluate critically an area of health psychology, contributing 100% of the overall module mark, which will assess outcomes 1 - 4

Module Indicative Content
This module explores the psychological correlates of health and illness within a social context. Topics covered include the development of health psychology as a discipline, prediction of health-related behaviours, psychophysiological mechanisms of health and illness, methods in health psychology research, the experience of treatment, quality of life issues, the psychosocial impact of chronic disease and professional issues within health psychology. Students are expected to engage with these topic areas through the evaluation of current health psychology research.
Module Learning Strategies
Key concepts and theories and will be delivered through tutor-led lectures.
The application of key concepts and theories will be explored through the use of videos, demonstrations of test materials, discussions and student presentations.
Independent learning, which will consist of tutor-guided reading, essay preparation, exam preparation and group presentation preparation.
