Module Details
Indicative Content
This module gives students the choice to tailor their own learning by selecting multiple topics from a series of bitesize subjects and gaining knowledge and skills in a variety of psychological topics. It allows students to get a brief flavour in areas that they would not have otherwise covered during the course of their degree and develop their time management and self-directed study skills. The module will offer both synchronous and asynchronous content. Topics may change annually to reflect the debates at the forefront of the discipline and align with staff expertise, but illustrations of topics include introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy, technical equipment (such as electroencephalogram or virtual reality), forensic and criminological psychology, child psychology, health psychology, clinical psychology, counselling or positive psychology.
Assessment Details
A portfolio document bringing together a summary of 3 of the topics’ students choose to focus on (e.g., introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy, technical equipment, forensic and criminal psychology, child psychology, health psychology counselling or positive psychology) and a reflective commentary on the application to their studies and/or future career goals or plans. (LO 1, 2, 3 & 4)

Formative Assessment- A series of assessment support drop-in support sessions for students including optional tutorial support. Students will be given the opportunity to discuss portfolio plans with their academic mentor.
Learning Strategies
This module will allow students to access a series of bitesize topics.

The module will have an introductory session and an assessment guidance session which all students will be expected to attend. All students will also be offered a drop-in session for module and assessment queries (6 hours). Academic mentors will hold regular portfolio development sessions (10 hours) in order to facilitate the portfolio completion, focusing on future career goals and enhancing skills and knowledge.

In addition, each student will select three topic areas to engage with from a series of bitesize topics. Each of these topic areas will include 6 hours of independent online content with scheduled teaching through tutor supported activities and Q&A sessions of 4 hours per topic.
