Module Learning Strategies
Interactive workshops are used to explain, explore and develop understanding of key issues of relevance for this module. Participants are encouraged to draw on experience from supervised clinical practice during these workshops. A problem based learning exercise is also used involving a group and individual presentation and participants are again encouraged to relate this to experience gained during supervised clinical practice.
Module Indicative Content
- Introduction to key concepts: boundaries / values, BPS Code of Conduct
- Communication skills - interviewing, counselling, and observation skills
- Collecting, synthesising and analysing information leading to psychological assessment and formulation
- Keeping a reflective diary
- Joint working relationships - agencies and disciplines
- Team working
- Working with service users, carers, family members and staff
- Focus on safe and ethical working practice e.g.capacity & consent, confidentiality, child protection, risk, suicide
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 2 pieces of summative assessment:
Problem Based Learning assignment comprising:
a) Group Seminar Presentation: 50%
Addresses outcomes 2 and 3
And:
b) Individual Report (1500 words): 50%
Addresses outcome 1.
Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via structured written feedback identifying strengths, weaknesses and guidance for improvement.
