INDICATIVE CONTENT
The previous Dissertation Part 1 module provides students with the tools required to be able to design and carry out their own CBT research and analyse data, ensuring as much as possible viability and reliability within their own research. Thus preparation for conducting the empirical study and the writing up of the project is achieved in Dissertation Part 1 module.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The previous Dissertation Part 1 module provides students with the tools required to be able to design and carry out their own CBT research and analyse data, ensuring as much as possible viability and reliability within their own research. Thus preparation for conducting the empirical study and the writing up of the project is achieved in Dissertation Part 1 module.
When the students embark on this Dissertation Part 2 module they have already produced a detailed research proposal (which includes a critical review of published literature in their chosen area) during Dissertation Part 1 module. They are now expected to independently conduct and write up the research project outlined in the Dissertation Part 1 research proposal. Students are expected to achieve this during Dissertation Part 2 module, through independent study and research activity through the following:
- Collection of data,
- Analysis, interpretation and synthesis of data,
- Critical thought and evaluation,
- Questioning of assumptions and where appropriate, to relate theory and practice.
As in Dissertation 1, online file sharing will be encouraged and backed-up with online discussion forums. Skype research meetings will take place for each student on a monthly basis.

4. Demonstrate originality in the application of CBT knowledge, together with a practical understanding of how established techniques of psychological research and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in the discipline (Application)
5. Critically reflect on own approach to combining theoretical knowledge and evidence-based research in order to enhance own understanding of a specific CBT issue (Reflection)
