INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module provides learning in professional, clinical and therapeutic competences required as a CBT Practitioner in line with BABCP minimum training standards (MTS) and the BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics. The module develops knowledge and understanding of professional standards, processes and frameworks used by CBT Practitioners in assessment of competence and professional development. Written communication skills are developed for clinical record-keeping, report writing and sharing of information with multi-disciplinary teams. The module develops skills in using competency measures and reflective practice. Weekly group clinical supervision develops skills in effective engagement in reflective practice.

The scientist-practitioner approach of CBT professionals is learned through enquiry and analysis in conducting empirically grounded interventions in clinical practice. The module provides experiential learning in self-practice/self-reflection through the application of CBT in our own lives and consideration of values, culture and working with difference as a CBT Practitioner.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning on this module will be synchronous via interactive weekly lectures, group supervision seminars, assignment workshops, academic mentoring sessions and directed problem-based learning. As well as formal classroom-based and online learning, you will attend weekly group supervision where tutor observation of CBT treatment intervention skills and feedback on your approaches is facilitated by a tutor who is a BABCP Accredited Practitioner. (150 hours)

In addition to this you will have 3.5 hours per week self-directed study time on placement. You will engage in asynchronous learning, to consolidate and build upon your learning from the taught sessions and to prepare for assessments. This will involve tasks such as reading key texts and journal articles, work based self-assessments, self-reflection on skills development, shadowing/observation, role play/practice with peers/supervisors and self-practice of interventions with reflection (i.e. applying techniques to issues from own life). (250 hours)
