INDICATIVE CONTENT
Students will be required to engage in a professional development programme consisting of interactive workshops, student-led journal clubs and departmental research seminars. The content of the workshops will be focused on PDP and skills auditing, professional identity, ethics and boundaries, reflective practice, time-management, and career development. Throughout the module students, should recognise the need to take responsibility for their own professional development (e.g., through PDP) and should therefore understand the principles and importance of critical self-reflection for their development as a professional psychologist.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
1. Career Portfolio (100%, 1500 words)
Students will be required to produce a portfolio that involves a series of tasks including a skills audit, a personal profile, a career-planning task and an up-to date CV that reflects their experience and skills gained on the course. They will also be required to identify a job/training advert or further study opportunity and produce a covering letter or application targeting that opportunity (Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3).
Formative feedback will be provided on tasks in dedicated support sessions.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Taught sessions, in the form of interactive workshops, will be delivered during which topics related to professional skills in clinical psychology will be explained, discussed and explored. Taught sessions will be complemented by student-led journal clubs, departmental research seminars and asynchronous activities.
These sessions will be supported by independent learning which will include ongoing self-guided reflection, extended reading, preparation for taught sessions, engaging in continuous professional development (CPD) and completing assessment relating activities.

Students must be registered on the MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology.

This module will focus on helping you develop not only your professional skills and identity but also help you with vital employability skills. You will engage with student-led journal clubs and guest speakers via the departmental research seminars as well as a series of workshops that are designed to help you recognise, audit and apply transferable and employability skills. You will document your progress in a portfolio that will include the production of an up-to-date cv and a covering letter for a potential job or further study opportunity.
