1. Submission of all assessment activities from the 'Psychology Research Methods' on-line Programme (LO3, LO5, LO6) (25%)
2. Small scale service evaluation/audit project (LO1, LO2, LO4, LO7) (75%; 5.000 words)
The aims of the Small Scale Project are two-fold:
- To provide participants with experience of completing service-related evaluation/audit within a clinical context.
- To foster the development of evaluation/audit awareness and critical skills.
Examples of potential projects include the following:
- A small-scale survey, e.g. consumer satisfaction survey
- An analysis of data routinely collected by a service
- An analysis of a recurring problem in a service
- An evaluation of an existing service or the need for a new or changed service

Introduction to University facilities incl. library services, SPSS, NVivo, RefWorks and other industry standard software
Psychology Research Methods programme and activities (accessed via `Blackboard' VLE), including:
1. Principles of Ethical Research and Design
2. Descriptive statistics
3. Hypothesis testing
4. One group designs
5. Effect size and power
6. Parametric testing
7. Non Parametric testing
8. Correlation
9. Qualitative research methods.
Development of knowledge/skills in service evaluation in the NHS and in other organisations
Development of knowledge/skills in clinical audit
Conducting a service evaluation

50 hours workshops, teaching and supervision
250 hours independent reading, completing `Blackboard' package and activities, reviewing literature, designing service project, carrying out data collection and analysis, writing up and disseminating outcomes of project.
