Must be enrolled on the Foundation Degree in Health Care Practice and in employment in a Health Care environment
Module Indicative Content
This module aims to equip the student with an understanding of physical and psychosocial needs of patients and the ethical principles that underpin care. This will be applied to role of the assistant practitioner and the multidisciplinary team and will include:
- Human needs, this will include aspects of physical, emotional and spiritual needs
- Ethical principles for care, dignity and respect
- Person centred care
- Effective Communication
- Confidentiality
- Vulnerable individuals
- Accountability and Delegation
- Promoting self care and independence
- Infection control
- Values for care
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2,500 word case study. (addressing all LO's)

Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment:
The summative assessment will be based on one aspect of care which will be selected from the students formative reflective journal related to patient care and will identify the students' role in care delivery, to a specific client/patient. The appropriateness of the communication strategies used and how partnership working contributed or could contribute to effective care.

Formative assessment will include:
Class based discussions, feedback on a draft plan for the case study, Individual and group tutorials
