Assessment 1 (Learning Outcome 4)
Professional Discussion - Using a recognised tool, critically reflect on your personal leadership style, exploring strengths and weaknesses alongside strategies to enhance or mitigate these in your role as a public health practitioner.
Assessment 2 (Learning Outcomes 1 – 3)
Learners will be provided with a scenario in which they are required to advocate for a change within their organisation's policy, influencing key leaders within the organisation. They will need to write a proposed approach to this, critically evaluating the role of the public health practitioner and propose evidence-based strategies to approach this issue.

This module explores the role and qualities of effective public health leaders, leadership styles, and strategic planning in public health organizations. Learn to align organizational goals with public health priorities, understand policy development processes, and analyse policy impact. Gain skills in policy formulation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Emphasize promoting health equity, advocacy strategies, and addressing social determinants of health. Explore ethical considerations, transparency, and accountability in governance. Study leadership during emergencies and managing organizational change in public health settings.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Key concepts will be delivered through lead lectures delivered through the university’s Virtual Learning Environment. This will then be followed by online synchronous discussion groups/seminars allowing learners to explore key issues and discuss the application to their particular working contexts.
