Module Learning Strategies
The module will be delivered via Blackboard and is organised around 8 weeks of activities and tasks, and 1 week of reading and reflection.
Each activity will include introductory material using a range of formats, and then be followed by a series of weekly tasks to complete individually. At the end of the module, there will be an optional 1-day face-to-face workshops which will include presentations by specialists in public health, discussion groups and case studies, and feedback on the assignment.

Module Indicative Content
The aims of the module are to; describe what epidemiology is, how it is used to make informed decisions in public health and clinical medicine. The module will include; measures of frequency and association, design and validity of epidemiological studies and give an overview of data analysis. The student will be given basic theoretical and practical skills for planning, undertaking and interpreting epidemiological studies.
The module will include case study analysis of real epidemiological investigations, upon which the module assessment will be based.
