Module Additional Assessment Details
Two pieces of work - a mid semester assignment weighted at 20% and a summative assessment at the end of the module weighted at 80%.
Students will be required to complete 2 pieces of assessment:
A mid term assessment will be the production of a search strategy for evidence to support a health promotion intervention in practice. LO's 2-4.Limited to 1000 words.
An end of semester assessment will be to develop, justify and critically evaluate a health promotion plan relevant to health promotion issues within the students- professional role or workplace. Limited to 3000 words. (LO's 1-4)

Module Resources
Course text books and learning materials as suggested. Suitable computer with internet access (specifically to the University server and Blackboard) as detailed in the Award Handbook.
Module Learning Strategies
The module will be distributed via the `Blackboard" virtual learning environment. Students will work through course material delivered through VLE which will guide reading of key texts and papers as well as specifying tasks for completion for formative assessment.
Module Indicative Content
- Core concepts of illness and health and their determinants, including the role of broader socio-economic and environmental factors will be explored at individual, community and wider population levels.
- Models and approaches in health promotion and the values upon which they are based will be discussed and applied to practice. This will include community development and settings based approaches.
- Contemporary healthy public policy and the relationship of health promotion to other public health activities will be examined including the politics of health.
- Determining needs, planning, delivering and evaluating a health promotion intervention will be undertaken.
- Evidence based practice, inclusion and inequalities will run as themes throughout the module.
